Development Center Plans Value-Added Food Workshop

The U.T.
Agricultural Development Center is hosting a day-long seminar
for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs interested in new food
businesses. The workshop will be held in East Tennessee on
August 31, 1999 at the Ramada Inn - Morristown.
The workshop,
Adding Value to Tennessee Agriculture . . Through New
Food Businesses, is designed for those considering a
new food-related enterprise. The workshop is hosted by the
U.T. Agricultural Extension Service, Tennessee Department
of Agriculture and the Food & Drug Administration.
The workshop
will feature a panel discussion of four existing value-added
food businesses. Workshop participants will also hear from
regulatory, marketing and financial specialists regarding:
Marketing approaches
County,
state and federal regulations
Promotional
techniques
How
to get financing
Insurance
and licensing needs
How
to make your business break even
A $20.00
registration fee will be charged for each participant. Registration
is limited to the first thirty-five who register. The preregistration
deadline is August 25. Late registration will be $30/person.
