Workshop
Planned for Potential Value-Added Food Business

A Workshop
for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs who are interested in starting
a value-added food business has been scheduled by The University
of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service for August 31,
2000 in Columbia, Tennessee. The one-day workshop will
feature topics on regulations, marketing, promotion and cost
analysis. A special panel discussion of successful food
entrepreneurs will also be included in the workshop.
Representatives from the Tennessee Department of
Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration and The University
of Tennessee will be providing instruction.
Preregistration
is required and a registration fee of $20.00 per person will
include lunch, snacks and all workshop materials. A
workshop brochure and preregistration form may be obtained
from the Agricultural Development Center at
865-974-3824 or by e-mail at adc@utk.edu. Registration
is limited to the first 50 and all registrations must be received
in the Agricultural Development Center by August
23.
Participants
in the workshop will learn about state and federal regulations;
marketing, promotion and labeling; cost analysis; licensing
and insurance. For additional information, feel free
