South Lags
on Internet Use

In a U.S. Department
of Commerce study on how much is being bought on the Internet,
the South appears to be lagging behind in its use of the technology.
"Almost a third
(32.7 percent) of Americans use the Internet somewhere, but
in the South only 29.8 percent are using it," said Rob Holland
of the Agricultural Development Center at The University of
Tennessee.
The study showed
that only 20 percent of Southerners have the Internet available
at home, and only 15.6 percent use it at work.
