How much
money does the farmer get from each dollar that you spend
on food?
Here are
your multiple choices: a) 90 cents, b) 75 cents, c) 50 cents
d) none of the above.
The
answer is d, none of the above, said Rob
Holland of The University of Tennessee's Agricultural Development
Center.
On
the average, he said, the farmer gets less than
21 cents from each dollar spent on food in this country. For
purchases at fast-food and other restaurants, the farmers
portion slips even lower, to less than 11 cents.
