Developing Rural Businesses (DRB) is a Center for Profitable Agriculture program designed to pursue rural development in a 19-county area in Tennessee through the support and development of successful value-added enterprises. One-on-one training, printed resources and large-group outreach efforts including a regional conference, workshops and other educational meetings will be used to provide technical assistance to farmers and value-added entrepreneurs pursuing successful enterprises.
The program is a two-year venture planned to conclude in May 2007. Counties in the designated area include: Campbell, Claiborne, Clay, Cumberland, Dekalb, Fentress, Grainger, Hancock, Jackson, Macon, Morgan, Pickett, Putnam, Overton, Scott, Smith, Trousdale, Union and White. The program is funded in part by the United States Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development.
